CHRIST CHURCH , THE RIDGE ( SHIMLA )


Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh . There are many famous tourist destinations in Shimla . Christ Church is also one of the most popular tourist destination in Shimla distt. of Himachal Pradesh . It is situated in The Ridge ( Shimla ) at an elevation of 2205 mtr above sea level. This church is second oldest church in North India.

Christ Church is designed in Neo - Gothic style of architecture . Christ Church was designed by  Colonel J T Boilaeu in 1844   and it was built in the year 1857 by Bishop Thomas  Daltrey . The construction cost of Church at that time was about 50,000 rupees.



There is also a big clock in the Church . The clock was donated by Colonel Dumbleton in 1860.  It can be easily reachable from Shimla Old bus stand and also from Lakkar bazar bus stand. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach from Lakkar bazar bus stand and 20 to 25 minutes from old bus stand Shimla.

It is the most visiting tourist spot in Shimla by domestic tourists as well as foreign tourists. Christmas is celebrated there with great joy . It is also famous and oldest Religious place for Christians community .
Best time to visit  Christ Church Shimla is June to September . But also in winters , tourists visit the most . It is one of the popular and second oldest Church in North India. 
Shimla is the best destination to be visit in Summers . If you are planning to visit hilly area in Summers , must visit Shimla .
