ST. JOHN CHURCH ,  FORSYTHGANJ ( DHARAMSHALA )

St. John Church is the popular Anglican church situated in Forsythganj and quite near to McLeodganj . The church is situated at an elevation of 1750 mtr above sea level . The church is also known as St. John in the Wilderness . The church is dedicated to John the Baptist . It was built in the year 1852 with Neo - Gothic style of architecture . The church is very famous for its architecture style and stained glass windows.

There is a  memorial dedicated to Lord Elgin who died in  Dharamshala in the year 1863 . Lord Elgin served as Governor General & Viceroy of India . The church is  also one of the oldest Cathedrals in North India which is built in the year 1852 and situated  on the roadside.

The Church is about 9 km from Dharamshala and  about 1 km from McLeodganj . It can be easily reach by bus or car from Dharamshala or from McLeodganj . It is the best tourist destination in Dharamshala where foreign as well as domestic tourists visit .The best time to visit  Dharamshala in Summers . Summers are best time to visit any hilly areas because at that time , the climate is pleasant in hilly areas .
